‘Building Bridges – Russian Infrastructure Development & Opportunities for UK Business’

Matt Cartwright, Director of Twelve Architects joined the expert panel at the Russo-British Chamber of Commerce (RBCC) event in London on Wednesday 27th November to discuss the financing of Russian Infrastructure Development & Opportunities for UK Business.

This annual event saw over 200 RBCC members and partners gather to discuss this key issue in Russo-British business. The Russian landscape will be transformed over the coming decades as major infrastructure projects are implemented all across the country. From transportation to housing, hospitals and sports facilities, there are a great many opportunities for UK companies to get involved.

The reception was hosted by HRH Prince Michael of Kent, Patron, RBCC and attended by HE Alexander Yakovenko, Russian Ambassador to the UK.

Twelve Architects accepted on to UKTI’s Passport to Export programme

Following an interview and business plan submission to UK Trade & Investment (UKTI), Twelve Architects has been accepted on to UKTI’s Passport to Export programme.

UKTI works with UK-based businesses to ensure their success in international markets, and encourage the best overseas companies to look to the UK as their global partner of choice. Twelve Architects has now established a tailored plan for the next 12 months with UKTI and are actively engaged in the programme.

The Rostov’s Airport concept design has been signed off. 

The design for the new Rostov Airport Terminal was officially signed off last week by the managing director of Renova Group Evgeny Olkhovik (pictured left) and the Governor of Rostov Region Vasilij Golubev.

During the ceremony Mr Golubev said: ‘The proposed design is created for the future, not for the past nor even for the present.”

Twelve Architects have been appointed to take Alliance retail car park project forward.

The car park with ground floor retail units was commissioned following the development of Phase 1 Alliance scheme.

The preferred scheme was approved by City Authority and will utilize standard perforated panels providing natural light and ventilation.

Twelve Architects secure the next stage for The Rostov-on-Don Airport, Russia with ambitious design

Following a two stage international design competition Twelve Architects has been confirmed as the preferred architects for the £607 million airport terminal hub for Southern Russia that will serve football fans visiting the 2018 World Cup. The Wider masterplan will include offices, a hotel, business centre and a high-speed railway station that will connect Moscow, Adler and Rostov-on-Don.

Four finalists (Twelve Architects & 3 Russian Architects) were selected following design submissions from the original 11 strong shortlist that had included 2 other British architects. The finalists were invited to present in Rostov on Don to a jury made up of the client management, regional government officials and technical advisors.

The Jury announced that Twelve Architects design was favoured as it created the most memorable and unique design, although they recognised it was ambitious. They confirmed that Twelve Architects would now be commissioned to provide technical documentation to develop and support their competition design and to refine it with the client team.

Officials of Ekaterinburg visit Majakovskogo Residential construction site

The Head of City Administration of Ekaterinburg Mr Alexander Yakob has visited the Majakovskogo Residential project site to examine the construction progress.

The site includes four 35 storey residential towers and 32 storey affordable apartment block designed by Twelve Architects.

“We are delighted to welcome Mr Alexander Yakob to our construction site to see the huge amount of work that is going on to regenerate the area. There is now great momentum behind the changes, with more than 1000 new homes, kindergartens, shops, business space and multilevel car parks already under construction. The transformation of Majakovskogo Street is continuing at pace, bringing thousands of much needed jobs and homes to this important part of the city.”

Twelve Architects shortlisted for a new airport terminal in Rostov on Don, Russia that will serve football fans visiting the 2018 World Cup

The scheme is for a new airport terminal, hotel and related infrastructure in Rostov province, southern Russia.

The Yuzhny Greenfield Airport competition is being organized and funded by the Airports of the Regions, part of the Renova Group, the largest airport holding company in Russia.

The terminal will meet an initial demand of 5 million passengers a year and be delivered across two phases as part of a wider transport development programme. The second stage of the competition will run until early September.

Twelve Architects is one of three UK firms competing in an international shortlist of 11 participants. The project is due to be completed in time for the World Cup in 2018, for which one of the host cities is Rostov-on-Don.

Twelve Architects to Deliver The University of Sheffield’s New Engineering Building with Balfour Beatty

The University of Sheffield has announced that Twelve Architects will complete the design and deliver the construction of their £81 million New Engineering Building with Balfour Beatty Construction.

Construction started in July 2013 and the building will be open in time for the start of the 2015 Autumn Semester.

The New Engineering Building is the latest in a series of new projects that Twelve Architects has secured in the UK and Russia since forming the practice at the start of 2013. It will help promote the practice in the Higher Education sector.

Construction commences of Alliance Commercial zone

The construction of the first phase of the Alliance Commercial Zone in Ekaterinburg, Russia has commenced on site. The project includes The Alliance Retail Gateway building designed by Twelve Architects. Twelve Architects are currently designing the second phase 180,000m2 residential masterplan that is due to be completed August 2013.

We are delighted to see this major project start on site, it is a pleasure to work in close collaboration with the client and our local partners and to utilise our combined expertise in the creation and delivery of this project

Twelve Architects partners with The British Learning Academy

Twelve Architects has become an industry partner with The British Learning Academy to aid in teaching English through project-based courses to students of various ages and backgrounds.

Students are taught though real working environments and projects. Treated as employees, students are grouped in international teams and asked to carry out special assignments using English to communicate, hence developing their language skills in relevant corporate communications contexts. The courses create a fun, stimulating and collaborative studying environment. Interactive programmes are designed to develop and practice the language and skills required to communicate effectively in a range of international business contexts, preparing students for industry and for a global career path.

We are delighted to work with The British Learning Academy and to use architecture as a learning tool to support the development of the students’ English and their understanding of how important good communication is within the design process and workplace

Twelve architects invited to present to Belarusian delegation.

Matt Cartwright, founding director of Twelve Architects presented at The Building Centre, London to an Official Ministerial delegation and construction leaders from Belarus.

The presentation focused on the value that is created by working with international consultants and strategic measures that need to be taken to make a successful project.

The event was the first time the delegation had visited London and it provided a value forum to exchange ideas and strengthen links within the region.
